From: Cgbjr [at] aol.com, Fort Benning, Ga Date: Subject: I was an Army raw recruit at Fort Benning, Ga. in November, 1966, as I witnessed the Leonid meteor storm. We were up before sunrise, as usual, on our way to breakfast when it began happening. First, dozens of meteors could be seen streaking from the apex, then, literally HUNDREDS at once. The drill sargeants were just as entralled, and we postponed eating until it was all over. I felt so priviledged to have witnessed such a visually spectacular event. Already an amateur astronomer, I had seen an event of a lifetime, and knew it!
