From: John W. Senner, Arkansas Department of Health (jsenner [at] mail.doh.state.ar.us) Date: Wed Oct 21 07:16:48 1998 Subject: I was a student at Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas. Some time in the middle of the night, the dorm parent knocked on my door saying that my conservative Mennonite grandmother wanted to talk to me on the telephone. I feared terrible family news of some sort, but instead heard "Boy, get down on your knees and pray - the stars are falling out of the sky and the world is coming to an end." I said, "Go back to bed, it's just a meteor shower. It happens every year at this time, and the world hasn't ended yet." I stepped out of the dorm to look, but there were street lights, and it was too cold to be out wearing only pajamas. I saw a few meteors and went back to bed myself. Years later, I realized what my grandmother must have seen and I missed.
