From: Gilberto Klar Renner, Porto Alegre, Brasil Date: Sun, 18 Nov 2001 23:53:56 -0200 I am sending the first results of our visual Leonids observations that were obtained in the state of Rio Grande do Sul (Southern Brazil). This is the best meteor shower yet watched by me until now. The Leonid meteors had magnitudes similar to last year's, the brightest was of magnitude -5. Radio meteor observations were realized as well for some days before, during and after the event. The results will be send later. My group was made up of five people: Luiz Antonio da Silva Machado, Luiz Augusto Leit?o da Silva, Clarice Azevedo Machado and Daniela Melissa Volkart and myself. The first period of observation was between 05:30 - 06:35 UT and we estimate the ZHR=154 meteor/hour. In the second hour between 06:43 and 07:10 UT we have a ZHR of 319 meteor/hour, assuming r=1.8. This was before the peak of the storm. Luiz Antonio da Silva Machado also photograped a Leonid of magntide -5 with train of 1 minute of duration. He observed between 05:30 - 06:45 UT and the ZHR is 334 m/h, assuming r=1.8
