From: Bob Lunsford, San Diego, CA Date: Tue, 19 Nov 2002 18:05:14 -0500 Quick Leonid MAC Summary This is Bob Lunsford reporting from Omaha, Neb. The 2002 Leonid MAC mission was a rousing success. Both peaks were well seen. It seems to us the later peak was slightly stronger. Exact ZHR's are unclear at this moment. Both peaks were stron g in faint meteors. I managed to record just over 2500 meteors in my small field of view in approximately 7.5 hours. Between storms while flying south of Greenl and we witnessed a fantastic aurora display. Even the cameras pointed low in the south (like mine) were showing shimmering aurora. I did not realize aurora shim mered so rapidly! To was truly amazing to this southern boy! We still have a 2 hour observing run tonight on our return flight to Edwards Air Force Base. Then it will be a another 3 hour drive home. It was great seeing ol d friends such such Dave Holman, Pete Gural and Mile Koop again. It was also fun meeting many new friends. They received me and treated me very well. It was an honer to be part of such a great experience!
