From: Sigrid Close, ALTAIR Date: Fri, 19 Nov 1999 16:54:35 +1200 As predicted, the peak of the storm occurred near 02:00 GMT on November 18th, which was 2PM at Kwajalein and also after Leo had set below our horizon. We collected simultaneous radar/optics meteor data approximately 9 hours before this peak, but unfortunately the count was low relative to predicted storm conditions (ALTAIR detected approximately 15 head echoes per minute). Also unfortunate was the dense cloud cover for the duration of the evening. We believe we did collect at least two meteors simultaneously at VHF, UHF, and with the ISIT and the IR camera. ALTAIR collected over 36 Gigabytes of data; many head echoes were seen simultaneously at VHF and UHF. The next portion of the meteor experiment will be to collect simultaneous ALTAIR/Optics data on sporadic meteors.
