These images were obtained on January 17, 18 and 25 respectively as part of a research effort at Lowell observatory. A wideband R-filter was used to isolate reflected light from any dust particles in the coma. A 1/rho function was subtracted from the images to show the dust tail of the comet. On January 17, the comet made its nearest approach to Earth (0.356 AU). The viewing geometry quickly changed, resulting in an aparent change of the orientation of the dust tail.
