Brief Biographical Information:
Dave Nugent completed a two year internship at NASA/Ames Research Center
in December of 2000, working with Dr. Peter Jenniskens while attending De Anza College.
He completed his BS in Mathematics at UC
San Diego and continued to work in the private sector. Parallel to his regular work, he works towards an MS degree at the School of Computer Science of Carnegie Mellon University.
Research on Leonid MAC:
Dave does flux counting, data reduction, and programming. He programmed
the Meteor Shower Flux Estimator, a program that resulted from his internship with Peter Jenniskens.
2007: Participated in the Aurigid Multi-Instrument Aircraft Campaign for near-real time flux measurements.
2002: Near real-time flux measurements.
2001: Near-real time flux measurements, plus fixed near-IR spectrometer
in-flight using only USB mouse cable, screwdriver, one AA battery and dental
floss.
1999: Responsible for setting up the networking protocols on the aircraft and for
the interplane and plane to ground communication over INMARSAT and MSTS Track II.
